WE CONDOLE, YET, LET JUSTICE PREVAIL

As I earlier said, we condole with the family of Ret. Gen. Angelo Reyes for his demise. And we sincerely do so.

Yet, the bitter tears of grief shouldn't blind our eyes to the fact that the matters of corruption in the AFP must eventually also be served with JUSTICE. JUSTICE, because for every single centavo stolen from the AFP coffers (and from the people's coffers!), how many soldiers, on and off the field, could have  died because of LACK of necessary equipments (weapons, boots, all-weather clothes), necessary medicines, allowance for nutritious food, adequate housing, adequate salaries and benefits, etc.? And these are OUR soldiers who bleed and sweat supposedly for us, all of us. We have to remember that for every centavo of the PABAON or PASALUBONG handed over to the crooked officers, is also every centavo which our ORDINARY SOLDIERS DESERVE TO GET, BUT DON'T GET. JUSTICE too, because as our ORDINARY SOLDIERS are the ones who are firsthand-butchered, decapitated, and ambushed, the crooked officers are enjoying the largesse of their absconded wealth in the airconditioned rooms of their local and  foreign manses and offices, riding their fleets of high-end vehicles, wearing their designer apparels. If we grieve, then we grieve also for those unknown, underappreciated, underpaid ordinary soldiers and their families whose lot in life  could have been better, if not for the PASALUBONG and the PABAON their  corrupt superiors instead decided to allot to themselves. Indeed, we grieve. While we intend not to cast aspersion on the memory of the dead, yet, let justice prevail.
